I think much of this goes back to general politeness and good manners. Even the Golden Rule: do to others as you'd have them do to you.

Not being able to manage interruptions effectively - especially when you're having an important meeting with someone, IS demoralizing.

Good article! Even in today's high-tech work world, so much of everyday work success is common sense manners and human interaction. I guess sometimes when you're the boss, it's easy to forget that though...

Never burn any bridges for sure! Not just in the high tech world but job market in general. With all the OCR readers and such you have to make personal contact and bond with the hiring manager to ensure your success! A long resume isn't going to cut it anymore alone.
